Red Rocks and Rockies!

Brace yourselves, people. I have a lot to share with you.

For the last month, I have done a lot a lot of cool shit.  I admit, I really am struggling with this life-work-blog balance thing.  It really is HARD!  I give mad props to all the dedicated bloggers out there with full time jobs, families, and social lives  AND still have motivation to blog!  Just so you know, I am extremely envious of all of you who are able to do that.  I have come to terms with the fact that I am simply not there yet, so please bear with me as I share with you all these awesome things I have been doing for the last month.   Like many hard working Americans out there, I sit at a computer all day blasting away at the keyboard. When I get home from work, the absolute last thing I want to do is stare at my computer for another few hours.  I just don't have it in me.  Also, my brain has the tendency to shut down circa 4 pm, so any attempts of writing anything creative and punctual, like I had  imagined, would be pointless. Basically, what it comes down to is I kind of feel guilty for writing about "old news" as they say.  And I'm not really certain if writing about "old news" even applies to the blog world and perhaps nobody even cares, but just letting you know I feel weird about it so I will try a little harder to fight the battle.

Sooo...on that note...

Four weekends ago was an awesome time!

It was one of many firsts. First bootcamp session at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, first park day, first bike ride, first Rockies game of the season, and first time at the popular new rooftop bar, Viewhouse. While I do love all the winter activity, I cannot deny how ecstatic I am for the summer months to arrive! With the warm weather rolling in (minus those bushleague snowfalls we've been graced with this "spring"), nothing gets me more excited than all the outdoor activity.

Saturday morning, (that would have been Saturday, April 5th I believe) I woke up early to get to Red Rocks by 9 for an hour and a half work out. For those of you who have never been to Red Rocks or do not live in Denver, not only is it a famous outdoor amphitheater at night but it is also a popular outdoor "gym" for fitness junkies during the day due to the thousands of stairs. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, this is where you can find lots of ripped bodies (if you're into that sorta thing). After a work out here, one can usually count on sore ass muscles for several days.

My good friend Liz invited me and some others to join her work trainer's Red Rocks fitness group. For an hour and a half, we sprinted up stairs, sprinted up hills, did lots of burpees, lots of ab stuff, tricep dips, push ups, bear crawls, lots of planks, and wall climbing. I will confirm that it was difficult, yet not completely miserable the whole time like I had imagined.

I will also confirm that those Lulu Lemon pants truly are see-through. A girl in front of me was merely bending over to stretch and as I looked up...BOOM! Full on butt. Right in front of me! (Sorry, did not snap a photo of that).

Sunday, April 7th we ventured downtown for brunch and a Rockies game for Lindsay and Michelle's birthday.  First, we had brunch and a few beverarges at the Viewhouse downtown:

Meg P. happy with her FULL mimosa!

With any grand opening of a business, there are always several kinks that need to be ironed out.  Leave it to Meg P., who was unsatisfied with the lousy pours, to iron out the insufficient mimosa kink. I'm with Meg on this one.  They filled maybe 1/4 of the glass pictured to the left.  Needless to say, a bit of loud communication toward a manager and a few bartenders (maybe a server too) can go a long way.  Meg eventually got what she asked for for the remainder of the afternoon.  Fingers crossed that they truly altered the way they pour mimosas and not just a meager effort to shut up an unsatisfied patron.  Next time you are enjoying your FULL glass (hopefully) of a bottomless mimosa at the Viewhouse, you can thank Meg P.!

Satisfied patrons

I don't think I have ever formally introduced my dear friend Nikki on here.  Chances are, if you live in Denver you know Nikki or at the very least, recognize her face or name.  Anyone who knows her, understands why so many people gravitate toward her.  She's just awesome! It also just so happens that she has become the official Facebook checker-inner.  Anytime you see that I have checked in somewhere through your Facebook feed, nine times out of ten it's her doing.  She is a great friend and really amazing planner and basically the one responsible for organizing this amazing day:

The birthday girls, who also were lucky enough to play one of those games on the jumbo-tron:

Michelle and Lindsay

Well, I missed this...but the jumbo-tron did say "Happy Birthday Lindsay and Michelle", thanks to Shannon who was able to pull some strings:

Here is a picture of maybe 1/4 of our rather large group.  Thanks, Liz, for that truly amazing photobomb! :)

Then came this, which is undoubtedly the best picture I have EVER been a part of.  Believe me, if I ever play the starring role on a sitcom, this is going to be the intro. Playing in the background will be Fat Boy Slim's Rockafeller Skank (thanks Michelle, you really hit the nail on the head with that one!).

Post game drinks! Emily, me, Liz, Leah

April: To Be Continued....
